Rodeo Beach - Engagement
This past fall, I had one of my favorite engagement sessions ever with Eduardo, Eric, and their lovable puddle dog, Pipoca, at Rodeo Beach. It was a full-blown adventure that truly captured the essence of their story and relationship.
Rodeo Beach provided the perfect backdrop- vast, rugged, and filled with raw energy of the ocean. Eduardo and Eric, two driven "type-A" personalities, brought a playful yet heartfelt dynamic to the day. (Side note: When two detail-oriented souls come together, you can bet there's a spirited back-and-forth even over something as simple as wedding ring choices. In fact, we even joked about the new trend of (M)engagement rings for engaged men!)
I've know Eduardo for over 20 years since moving to the USA, though life had kept us apart for a while. One day, out of the blue, I reconnected with him-and that's how this session was born. I arrived expecting a standard shoot, but the day had other plans. Amid a busy schedule (including an unexacting free Reiki therapy from my son), I arrived at the beach and was pleasantly surprised to find Eduardo already there, ready to create memories.
Eric, a dedicated doctor and a very shy, soft-spoken Asian gentleman, had never done a photoshoot before and was understandably apprehensive about posing. But the relaxed atmosphere of the beach worked its magic. Within minutes, his shyness melted away-he was running into the water like a small kid, laughing heartly, throwing water at Eduardo, and playing joyfully with Pipoca. That spontaneous burst of joy perfectly encapsulated the love and intimacy between them.
From the playful slashes in the waves to the quiet, tender moments shared away from the lens, the day was a beautiful mix of planned and spontaneous moments.
I've witnessed Eduardo's journey for two decades, and being part of his story with Eric made this session deeply personal. Their subtle, genuine interactions and playful banter (yes, even about those wedding rings!) made for a narrative full of laughter, love, and intimacy.
No engagement session would be complete without a four-legged friend. Pipoca's adorable antics added an extra layer of fun, reminding us all that family comes in many delightful forms.
This engagement session was not just about beautiful photos-it was a celebration of a love that defines intimacy and inspires everyone planning their big day. Eduardo, Eric, and Pipoca reminded me why I love what I do: capturing authentic moments that tell the unique story of each couple.
